As high-profile divorces go the latest financial settlement battle between actors Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher could be a doozy.
Kutcher was a relatively little-known young actor and model when he met the megastar actress Moore in 2003. She was a Hollywood A-lister and worth considerably more than Kutcher at the time.
Yet, during the course of their six-year marriage, which was entered into without a prenuptial agreement, the tables have turned and now Kutcher, who is 16 years Moore’s junior, is reportedly the far-wealthier of the two.
So, 16 months after the couple separated in 2011, it has now been reported that Moore has filed divorce papers seeking financial support from her soon-to-be ex-husband and it has been suggested that the settlement could be around £190 million.
So far, Moore has refused to agree to the divorce because the couple had been unable to agree how to share the assets which have been garnered during the life of the marriage. It will now be up to the couple’s respective legal teams and the Los Angeles family court to determine a suitable split.
Divorce lawyers acting for the couple have not yet made any formal comment on the divorce, but it is likely that the upcoming proceedings will generate much press attention in the coming days and months of prospective negotiations and hearings.
