International Joint Ventures

An international joint venture is a commercial arrangement whereby two or more independent entities work together for a common business undertaking, where those entities are based in two different countries, or where the aim of the joint venture is a business venture in a country foreign to all the joint venture partners.

An international joint venture can be a useful way for a company to establish or increase a presence in a foreign country, by entering into a partnership with a business already established in the country, or by sharing resources with other companies also wishing to establish a new presence in that country.

Healys has extensive experience and expertise in advising on international joint ventures where the aim of the joint venture is a business arrangement within the UK, or where a UK company s entering into a joint venture whose purpose is abroad. We also work closely with other professionals in the UK and abroad, such as foreign lawyers, accountants, tax advisers, real estate agents, recruitment consultants and relocation agents, and can introduce clients to a wide network of such professionals where necessary. We take a realistic and commercial approach to a client's needs, always ensuring that we understand the commercial imperative behind the join venture, in order to tailor the contractual documents to best fit the client's requirements.
