Melanie joined Healys in 2006 and heads up the insolvency team in London and Brighton. She acts for insolvency practitioners, directors and other stakeholders in relation to all insolvency situations.
She advises on corporate rescue or restructure, administrations, liquidations bankruptcies and voluntary arrangements. Melanie also advises on a diverse range of property issues for both landlords and office holders in the context of insolvency.
Prior to becoming head of the insolvency team for Healys, Melanie spent six months working in-house for a firm of accountant insolvency practitioners and had extensive experience in advising lenders and directors on the recovery strategies available to them, attending creditors' meetings for voluntary liquidations and running a number of trading administrations.
Melanie recently advised a group of aggrieved creditors on challenging a company voluntary arrangement which was proposed by the directors of a cargo airline, MK Airlines Ltd. The court ruled in favour of the creditors that a debt lodged by a lessor was overstated by several million pounds and the challenge resulted in the compulsory winding up of the company.
Melanie has also acted for the administrators of the well-known British all business-class service airline, Silverjet plc, and the liquidators of a large independent film distribution company, Tartan Film Distribution Ltd.
