London home sales lead the way in the latest residential conveyancing survey of top-priced property in England with 1,418 streets having average property prices of more than £1m.
According to property website Zoopla, around the country there are a total of 1,995 roads which meet this criteria, illustrating the trend that the most expensive housing areas are showing a faster increase in sales than places with cheaper homes.
Kensington is the costliest postcode area in which to buy a London home where prices are up 9% from 12 months ago and an average property in W8 can cost nearly £1.6m. Kensington Palace Gardens is said to be the most expensive road in which to live in the UK with an average price tag of £18m.
The next area of million pound homes is neighbouring Chelsea, with an average price of £1.3m, then Knightsbridge and Notting Hill where sellers can achieve averages of £1.1m.
London has nine out of ten of the most expensive postcodes while most of the other seven-figure roads are on the fringes of the capital. These include Virginia Water, Surrey, which is in the top ten with an average home price of £920,138.
Other Surrey postcodes are equally in demand with residential property crossing the million pound boundary in Guildford, with 47 streets; while Richmond has 44 and Leatherhead has 40.
